UXBRIDGE -- This rendering of a gas bar with a drive-through was shown to Uxbridge council. The gas bar has been opposed by residents. An office complex is also proposed near the gas bar. February 22, 2016 - Rendering from Armoclan Engineering Ltd.
UXBRIDGE -- Councillors were presented with revised renderings for an office complex development as well as new designs for a gas bar planned for the corner of Brock and Victoria streets in downtown Uxbridge at a Feb. 22 meeting.
“We’re trying to be sensitive to the traditional streetscape,” said Steven Hunt, the architect for Armoclan Engineering Ltd., the group proposing the development. “It will help set the table for buildings to come.”
The proposed gas bar also includes plans for a convenience store/coffee shop with a drive-through, and has seen opposition from residents due to environmental and traffic concerns.
Ward 4 Councillor Fred Bryan, the ward in which the development is slated to be built, said the property has been zoned for commercial since the start and the proposed development is allowed under that zoning.
“It’s always been zoned commercial, there’s going to be a business there,” said Coun. Bryan to the residents gathered at the meeting. “Unfortunately that’s not what you want to hear.”.
